The First - Land and Sea

When Tim Crane and Rob Knight left their bands in search of a new direction, they teamed up with fellow musician Ben Knowles to write and create a five track Ep of strong lyrical content and heavily guitar based tunes. The finalised project was called ‘Land and Sea’.

This release outlines the direction and progression these three lads and their fellow band members Matt and Trevor Smith, has gone through since the bands formation three years ago. These guys remind me of a cross between ‘This City’ and ‘Simple Plan’. Each of the songs on this five track Ep is powerful, lively and ambitious with punk attitude and melodic intensities.

There is the opener ‘Lily Allen Keys’, friction caused by ‘Schofield Can’t Catch’ then ‘Little Hell’ which is slightly mellower with an incredible vocal presence becoming more intense and guitar riffs becoming hard hitting. The record continues with the bouncy rhythms of ‘Truth is on the Table’ before concluding with ‘AVD’. Each song is very inviting and begs for you to listen more. With outstanding melodic rhythms you can’t help but be charmed over, with harmonies exerting a rugged punk pop touch towards a more screamo effect there is just the right blend of everything to excite a listener.

If The First is able to create such a static atmosphere through five songs and the airwaves, imagine the creativity, energy and excitability they could create on stage. Watch out Simple Plan, we have our own home grown talent about to make their presence known.
