Screaming Lights - Phenomena / Grandfather Clock

Brooding baby faced four piece, Screaming Lights, release a new double A side single 'Phenomena' and 'Grandfather Clock' showing once again they are playing style of music which should be considered beyond their ages.

Likened to bands like White Lies, who they support in May in Liverpool and to Interpol which is easy to see on the first of the two songs 'Phenomena' with its slow building angst ridden guitar based rock. The second track, 'Grandfather Clock' is a bit pacier from the start with the piano taking more of a forefront than the guitars for the majority of the time. The angst feel is still there in abundance and an extra mark has to be given for singing about grandfather clocks by referring to lost love. Both songs do seem to be very similar to the general music that seems to be clogging up the “rock” radio stations at the moment but there are definitely signs that Screaming Lights can break the mould.

As well as their White Lies support gig, Screaming Lights are playing several gigs up and down the country in May.
