Great summer listening!

London-based light rock band The Peppermint Apes is made up of vocalist and guitarist Ryan Stanton, percussionist Zak Ballinger, bassist and guitarist Darren Owen and lead guitarist Lewis Brown. ‘The Miracle EP’ also features guitarist Jason Bones.

The Peppermint Apes, whose influences lie with bands such as The Beatles, are bringing the groove back to the rock scene. The EP features smooth vocal harmonies and light guitar melodies over simple but memorable rhythms. All four tracks have an unmistakable 60’s ambience with a modern twist which, mixed with the lads’ good looks, will have all the girls swooning!

Track 1, ‘Miracle to Me’, conjures up images of beach parties on long summer nights whilst track 2, ‘Dance Floor Hero’ oozes charm and sweetness (“Ooh la la I wanna be your friend // I wanna be your hero on the dance floor”), reminding me of teenage proms and first dates. Track 3 ‘Do You Want It’, on the other hand, introduces the listener to the band’s cheeky side, which is also reflected in track 4, ’No One Like Me’ with its cockney vibe. This song, as well as ‘Miracle to Me’, is my favourite.

‘The Miracle EP’ is great summer listening: as the band’s name suggests (bad joke alert), the Peppermint Apes’ unique sound is refreshing (had to be done...) and, unlike many other similarly influenced bands, they have triumphed in taking a genre that has such huge respect and sculpted it into their own sound. The band will appeal to young and old alike - my nan liked them as much as I did!

Kick back and enjoy.
