Hip-hop at its damn best
Well, don't this just hit the nail on the head? This is pure hip-hop genius by those that can. It flows like flow and whoop, does it get you happy that you've got it spinning on your turntable, hell yeah. Scott Herren, the man who is Prefuse '73 is a powerhouse in hip-hop, this is sensational stuff, pushing the genre forward whilst maintaining that lovely old sound of the style alike to the brilliance of the Wu Tang Clan.
And the services of Wu Tang member, Ghostface are employed here. The killa from the Clan is sounding as fresh as ever on this recording, which also features the renowned El-P, who came to prominence with the innovative outfit Company Flow. Together they form an unstoppable vocal force.
Boy, this is chilled, smoky night music, with a sound that draws on eastern influences, especially in the 'Shaolin Finale', classic hip-hop guitar tracks on El-P's mix and nice, sprawling samples that are sunny and simple on the main edit. Yes, this is hip-hop at its damn best! A big score for this one.
