Canadian rockers, The Stills, arrive on stage five minutes late. There is no apparent reason as to why the band arrive late – but they just swagger on to the stage in a fashion that would be more suited to Axl Rose’s legendary late arrivals.

With a cigarette still on the go, The Stills launch in to their set that can only be described as near perfect. Each song sounds more like a beautifully crafted sculpture than a simple piece of music that most people outside of this tent have never heard before.

Creating an atmosphere in the Radio One tent that almost makes the air feel tangible is not an easy task – yet it’s pulled off not just with ease, but style as well. As the vocals soar through the crowd, everybody’s attention is fixed - nobody is looking at their shoes and you truly know that the band are putting their all into not just their music – but their performance.

Many bands forget that they need to actually perform, but The Stills seem to focus on this above all else. If all else fails – watch them just because the drums are at the side of the stage rather than the back. A nice change if nothing else.
