Sweden show the MF how it should be done
A snowy grey winter's day in London is hardly going to put you in the mood for a brutal onslaught of noise. The Haunted offer just that, but with a slight difference. This is a band with a violent, passionate talent that claws to be heard and will tear at the ears of any who give it a chance. A band who, despite the power that grinds away behind their music, know the difference between heavy music and noise. With Peter Dolving bounding around the stage like a man possessed and two doses of fleshy guitar work this is not a band to be taken lightly and certainly not a band who offers an easy way out. Similar to a much needed dentist appointment, The Haunted are painfully loud but also desperately needed. After just one song they manage to highlight the contrast between UK music and that of the European variety effortlessly.
Whereas most UK bands would be content at seeing the majority of the crowd nodding along, it isn't enough for The Haunted. They whip the audience into the kind of frenzy the shocks even the well-seasoned metal-mothers in the crowd. A lot can be found out about a band's music from their audience. If this is the case, then The Haunted's music is highly flexible and isn't afraid of pushing the boundaries of the thrash metal genre into shapes unknown. That doesn't mean to say that what they do is anything different though. What you witness when you see The Haunted is something solid and structured, there is no ethereal progressive metal to confuse... The Haunted are merely a fast paced, deliciously devious blend of metal that will hound you beyond the end of their set.
