Remember these guys? You should!
Ah the Scorpions, fun with a capital F and true masters of catchy, sing-a-long metal. The sound tonight is crisp and clean, and as you'd expect from a band that has been around for more than 30 years the performance is tight. The line up to tonight consists of long time band members Klause Meine on vocals, Rudy Schencker (doing a passable Michael Schencker impression with his bleached blonde hair) and Matthias Jabs on guitar, joined by new boys (to me at least) James Kottak on drums and Pawel Maciwoda on bass.
Unlike many other rock bands the Scorpions don't need a stage set, they just bounce around the stage jumping onto and then leaping off anything they can find. Stand out moments of the gig include the return of an old favourite We'll Burn the Sky, Coast to Coast and Blackout. The set ends
really strongly with Still Loving You followed by Rock You Like a Hurricane.
It's a real shame that as a support band they get such a short time to play, amazingly it is 14 years since they've toured the UK, but given how well they go down with the crowd lets hope that they'll be back soon.
