Dwarfing the Main Stage?

When I was told that The Dwarves had a band member called He Who Must Not Be Named who played naked, I didn't believe it. After today's performance, I'm left wishing that, that was actually the case. It's a gimmick - they way they play on it, it has to be - and not a pretty one at that.

The music is fast and heavy, as they mix punk and rock together. With great drumming and terrific tunes, the crowd is getting into it a hell of a lot. But, as with Raging Speedhorn the previous night, everything starts to blend together.

The fourth song is the best thing they do all set. It's standard rock 'n' roll but that doesn't matter, it's dirty and it's primeval, but it makes you want to shake your thang. Shame then when the next song, 'Relentless' returns to the punk rock mess of the others. Some more of the rock 'n' roll would have been so good.

But it's not just the songs that are getting to me. There was no need for their singer to keep going 'Oh fuck yeah, you're in the presence of rock legends,' so many times. If they're rock legends, then I will eat my hat. This view is even more compounded when the next one starts sounding like 'Anarchy in the UK'. Admittedly there is a touch of joking about being rock legends, but 'I know you love me, I love you too - bitch' was unnecessary.

However, some members of the crowd are loving it, so it's a case of each to his own I think. But, I've seen, I've heard, and I'm not impressed.
