Little Men, Big Balls!

DV8 were the winners of the Snickers unsigned competition and have come all the way from Texas to take their chances on the main stage. Nobody really knows what to expect when the band take to the stage for they are young, very young! The bass player looks as though he is struggling to accommodate his guitar, which is fair enough when it's nearly as big as he is.

When they start playing though the couple of hundred people in front of the stage seem genuinely impressed, for a three piece in their infancy (in more ways than one!) they make a surprisingly big sound. The songs are simple in structure but are driven with power chords, supported by some excellent drumming and in the main are very effective. The vocalist / guitarist is not the least bit phased by the stage that he finds himself on and he really goes for it, his vocals are pretty good but he just doesn't have the power to carry off some of the choruses.

The biggest cheer of their short set comes when the drummer gets a small solo, he does an excellent job and is worthy of the applause. Perhaps getting a little over confident they do lose some favour when the singer asks for a crowd scream and later, when they dedicate a song to 'alcoholic beverages' it is a little cringe worthy but they will learn and playing at Donington gives them the best experience possible.
