Making the UK Proud

The valleys of South Wales may be renowned for a lot of things - but metal bands that pack a serious punch are not one of them. I doubt that Bullet for my Valentine will suddenly put The Valleys on the world's metal map, but who knows.

It has taken Bullet a long time to get here, they almost packed in their music career on a number of occasions and, until last year, existed in relative obscurity. The years of waiting, however, have paid off.

As they take to the Snickers Stage it is as if they're a band that have been playing for their whole lives - everything about their set seems natural and perfectly right. Their years of small club gigs around the country have not been in vein and there is no doubt that they're now ready for the big time.

Each and every song that Bullet present is a brutal, yet thoroughly enjoyable assault on all your senses. The axe work is just what metal is all about - complete. No aspect of a perfect song is ignored and solo after solo result in the Snickers Stage crowd cheering calls of "Bullet, Bullet" whether they're playing the material from their EP or from their forthcoming album that is due for release on September 26th through Visible Noise.

If their live performances are anything to go by then the new album is going to be, by far, one of the best releases of the year. The band thank the crowd for "making [their] fucking dreams come true" and leave to rapturous applause. It's a good year - metal is back home at Donington as Bullet for my Valentine do the UK proud.
