Linkin Park

The nu-metal band that produced the best selling album of 2001 are back in England - and Chester is looking well recovered from his earlier bout in hospital earlier this year. The band now have three albums of material to play from and provide a set ranging from their mammoth "One Step Closer through" to their Reanimation remix of "Pushing Me Away" as well as the new hit "Somewhere I Belong" from their latest album Meteora.

The set is remarkably average if you are not a Linkin Park fan. They "perform" their songs however rely on samples more than anything else. The sound produced is often too remarkably like the album for a live performance and does not offer any real feel of a rock act. You get the feeling that this band have lost their roots and are simply playing to get another Ferrari or two.

The Linkin Park fans love their set, they go home for the night feeling energised and they've just heard the album played to them live. Sadly - it seems no more than that and Linkin Park appear to the rest of the crowd as the metal equivalent of Hear Say. If you were a fan of "LP" then you have finished the night on a good note. If not you were left wishin you had tried a different stage.
