An Admirable Start

Three Children Of Fortune are the first band on the Snickers stage today and they are immediately impressive, the vocals have grit and passion, the band are tight and the music is hard but well structured. Featuring the classic three piece line up of drums, bass and guitar / vocals they begin strongly and build from there.

Second song of the set ('Flesh and Bone') is a fine tune, reminiscent of Seraphin it features a good melody and a particularly catchy chorus. The bass sound is great, big and chunky which more than complements the driven and purposeful drumming. The sound is good and they get a decent reception as there is a healthy crowd which grows during the set as more people find their way in.

They do suffer some heckling, perhaps because they're not metal enough for some sections of the crowd but they deal with it well and go on to deliver a varied and solid set. If Three Children Of Fortune can reproduce the loud, full sound they have here on record they could have the ability to cross boundaries. Whilst they do an admirable job on the larger stage (the overall sound is certainly loud enough) I imagine that in a smaller venue they would make an even greater impression.

The last track ('Scarlet Fever') is perhaps not the best song to finish with considering the venue, a faster, harder song may have appealed more to the crowd, but they have taken their twenty five minutes and used it well and they leave to a good reaction. Definitely worth checking out!
