Plenty of things to say!
This date has been pencilled in the diary for months, McQueen playing in Manchester is an opportunity not to be missed and once again they prove worth the wait. The crowd is decent but perhaps a little less than I was expecting, I have no doubt though that this will all change when they finally get an album out into the public domain.
McQueen have a great energy about them, particularly in the front pairing of Leah and Cat, they just take ownership of the stage from the word go and it makes for compelling viewing. That's not to say the rest of the band are lagging, far from it and in all honesty the stand out performance tonight comes from Hayley, man can she play the drums! To cap it off it's great to see Sophie getting into it half way through, much of the time she tends to stand in the background looking rather regal, so when she lets go it just adds to the overall effect!
The sound is good albeit a little quiet but it does make everything clear and provides good opportunity to hear the newer songs, which it has to be said only wet the appetite for the forthcoming album. McQueen score well for diversity of material, they mix punkier tunes with harder, more metal orientated songs with ease and there doesn't seem to be a duff track amongst them. Highlights tonight are first single 'Like I Care', new single ' Running Out Of Things To Say', a thumping version of 'Blinded' and an impassioned 'Bitch', the only disappointment once again is that 'Life Support ICU' isn't included!
McQueen continue to win people over and there's a small but enthusiastic group of fans down at the front that jump and dance (for want of a better word!) throughout. Having seen them live a few times now I'm convinced that these girls have what it takes, they are yet to disappoint; consummate musicians, great performers and with an already impressive repetoire wider success should be just around the corner.
