No preparations can brace you for the barbaric onslaught of The Locust...
A main attraction of this manic weekend on the south-east coast was definitely The Locust. Raucous uncompromising noise-pushers, 30 second-long pieces of a crazy blasting sound, hardcore in a realm of their own, they make the music of the future and they're waiting for the world to catch up. The ideas of punk sped up 200% met with thrashy augmented killer riffage and rampant death drums with splicings of electronic wizardry all coming together to make a truly mind-blowing experience.
No one really comes close; they're alike in ways to the awesome mega sound of Phantomsmasher, but different in the fact that they tend to cram everything in to a space shorter than your average sentence. Well, when you bear all this in mind it's nigh impossible not to be entirely excited by the prospect of their live show...
So it's time, they come out dressed in their buggy costumes and launch into the unrelenting onslaught that doesn't let up until the final number is over. Screeching and wails dive-bombing into quick-fire stabs of cacophonous madness tied to otherworldly syncopation in a brain-destroyingly glorious manner.
It's tough to know exactly where you are when so encompassed in the awesome spectacle of absolute craziness apparent in front of your eyes. They may have just played 'Recyclable Body Fluids In Human Shape' or 'Anything Jesus Does, I Can Do Better' but you just can't quite be sure, and not that it matters, as your whole body, mind and soul are transported to some other demonic galaxy for the duration of the show...
You're there and thinking this is the future, this is outer space and you may just be right, adults today all say 'stop listening to this racket!' in reference to soft-core acts like Marilyn Manson and the like, you just wait a few years when he'll be regarded easy listening in comparison to the real deal, super hardcore mental death mega madness music like The Locust!
