It's great to have them back
The Magic Numbers were one of a number of acts using the V Festival to show off new material to a massive crowd.
The band, who have a new album out later in the year, played to a large and enthusiastic audience on Saturday afternoon at the Chelmsford leg of V. New single 'Take A Chance' appeared half way through the set, and has the feel of the kind of melodic rock Snow Patrol might produce.
As well as a chance to hear what the band has been working on in recent months, this was an opportunity to remind ourselves of the great tracks that featured on the band's self-titled debut record.
First of their massive tracks was 'Forever Lost', followed by 'I See You, You See Me', which still makes me think of the Beautiful South. The two tracks to get the biggest response were 'Love Me Like You' and debut album opener 'Mornings 11'.
With another new track, a real country inspired number, bringing the set to a close, it's clear we can look forward to more great times in the company of the Magic Numbers and their music. The only real downer was that the sun wasn't out as this band's work is best suited to the warm weather.
