The right to remain silent

It's fair to say that Statetrooper have been around the block a bit, they hark back to the 80s when for a while, hard rock ruled the world and elsewhere. On today's evidence though it seems that Statetrooper have failed to progress and have one white baseball boot and half a skin tight jeaned leg firmly planted in the past!

There's no denying that Statetrooper are technically proficient, there are some good lead guitar parts and as a band they work together well , although the keyboards are fairly inaudible for much of the set. The vocals of ex-MSG vocalist are perfect for the style of music they play, the high pitched scream, the gravel toned growl, you know how it goes.

Maybe it's the heat and the fact that it's early on in the day but the band fail to get the crowd going at all and there isn't a single person that's ventured to the front of the stage. They do however get a decent reaction from the crowd that is spread out on the hill, despite most of them being seated. Statetrooper are very good at what they do, the problem is that what they do sounds very dated and although they mix in new songs such as 'Twilight's Last Gleaming', it really is hard to tell them apart from older songs. A good performance but it's just too hot and too early for anyone to be really bothered today.
