Still Cyco After All These Years

Suicidal Tendencies might not have got the recognition they deserved in their heyday but they're certainly getting it tonight as those running from My Chemical Romance pack out the Tuborg tent.

Vocalist Mike Muir (or Cyco Miko) never stops moving throughout, he works every inch of the stage and coupled with the commanding presence of bassist Steve Brunner centre stage it's an impressive stage show. They fly through as much of their back catalogue as they can in their hour long set and the tightly packed crowd love every minute. It's clear to see why they are hailed as one of the pioneering crossover bands as they effortlessly blend punk with some furious metal riffs.

There is some rather predictable diatribe from Muir but the crowd lap it up and it's all part of the show. Although now in their 25th year their live sound hasn't dated and they turn in a blistering performance with the whole band really getting into it, spurred on by the crowd that rip it up down at the front. 'Ain't Gonna Take It' from 1999s 'Freedumb' shows the band's versatility with Brunner delivering a funky bass line but it's not long before they launch back into good old hardcore.

Suicidal Tendencies are responsible for one of the highlights of the weekend as during the last song they take security by surprise and get around 50 people up on the stage who jump around as the band continue to play. It's both nuts and brilliant, Suicidal Tendencies have proved worthy headliners and it's a great end to the day.
