Back on Track
London's My Vitriol have been around for 8 years now one way or another but seem persistently undecided as to whether they're on hiatus, or back for good, or just doing one off shows! Either way they take to the second stage at Download in front of a smallish crowd by the days standards.
Vocalist & guitarist Som Wardner is in jovial mood and takes time to acknowledge those in the crowd comparing his red and black jacket to Michael Jackson's. My Vitriol make a good noise, big guitars and choruses often centred around a lighter verse are easy on the ear. New(ish) bassist Lauren fits in well and the band seem to be into it, between songs they tease the crowd with a touch of Pantera followed by Burt Bacharach!
They sound heavier live than you might expect and impress with song structures that are cultured and engaging. They go down well and pull a steady stream of interested punters in throughout their set. Finishing up with new single 'War of the Worlds' they go out in style and with its almost epic soundscapes it could do well for them. A consistent run for the band could see them returning to the kind of success that saw them as a mainstay on the festival circuit.
