More Dewy Acoustic Alt-Country
Elvis Perkins provides a merry summer day's entertainment on the Uncut Stage as we shelter from the burning sun and enjoy some great indie folk vibes.
Beginning with the sweet and stirring 'While You Were Sleeping', which he performs as a solo acoustic tune, Elvis Perkins is soon joined by a band and impassioned harmonica accompaniment, which fill the tent and surroundings. Perkins' buoyant acoustic strumming sound is mixed with foot stomping percussion - literally on 'Hey' which has a beat so infectious that it soon spills out into the crowd. There's raging alt-country in the form of 'Ash Wednesday', but some of the tunes feel a little too similar to those of Two Gallants, who played yesterday, but with added double bass.
Perkins is the first act to get the majority of the Uncut Stage to their feet on this lazy second day and he certainly doesn't disappointment with a finale of, 'Doomsday' that sees most of Cold War Kids and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's Alec Ounsworth flood the stage with the drummer striding up and down with a big band drum. Certainly a frolick-filled closer which goes down a treat.
