As Homer Simpson would say,

The Goo Goo Dolls are a funny one. They've been making music for the best part of two decades, yet their whole career seems to hinge on one song from the late nineties. So much so that when they stuck it on the b-side of a new release last year, most radio stations totally overlooked the a-side and used it as an excuse to hammer 'Iris' again. This led to Virgin Radio listeners voting it the second best song of all time in the annual top 500 pole for 2006 behind 'Chasing Cars'.

The crowd wasn't massive, with a few down the front lapping it up, and the rest standing about with the middle of the road, radio friendly rock just washing over them.

'Black Balloon' (which featured on the same album as 'Iris') was well received and was the only other track to really stand out from the bunch.

When it came, it was good to see 'Iris' played live, but in all honesty the Goo Goo Dolls experience was one that failed to live long in the memory.
