My American Heart live at Electric Ballroom
These lads may have been together for quite some years, but it is only now that the UK is getting a taste of what they have to offer, and boy is it worth listening to. While touring with The Blackout, the lads played their last gig of the tour at the Electric Ballroom in Camden. The venue may be quite small and the stage not very spacious, but the lads made up for the size in performance.
From a vibrating intro to an explosive ending and all the tracks in-between, there was no doubt these lads were there to PARTY. Their entire set was electric and sent sparks shooting across the room. With upbeat tracks like ‘The Process’ pushing the screaming level up a notch, a slower track ‘Tired And Uninspired’ was thrown in to bring the lads back down to Earth…even if for just a few minutes.
What makes these guys different from others is they lack the look of superstars. They look like everyday young lads in their late teens early 20’s that are out for a night of heavy music and good fun. No need for specific clothing or having to be a certain way, just fun fun fun. Well they sure gave this to the crowd.
With the vocals of Larry Soliman riding the waves like he had been in the business or 20 years, which is impossible as he is only 20 years old, and the others hitting those high tones as much as they could, the crowd went wild for the entire set; clapping through ‘The Shake’ and of course beaming when the last track was their single ‘Boys Grab Your Guns’. This was the highlight of their show.
You know you are appreciated when a member of the band you are there to support comes running on stage to sing along side you. Well this is exactly what Gavin Butler from The Blackout did. Praise and appreciation came from all on this night.
