Fraught, frenetic and funky

Glasgow's music scene has always been fond of the eclectic, so it's with warm arms and a packed cellar that Nice N'Sleazys receives Brighton-based electro duo Fuck Buttons.

Ripples of sparkling sound drown the listener, submerged beneath undulating synth waves climaxing in vicious vocal cries. The band's gear looks like it's been stolen from a small child, with their laptop covered in colourful stickers and a trunk full of electro tricks that looks appealing to any technical geek. The duo stomp about the stage to a number with tribal percussion let loose, letting out primal screams and filled with energy. Having little formal structure, the cacophony of sounds flows easily from track to track, from boisterous drumbeats to a rapturous riot of shimmering sound, while elsewhere there are tiny pastiches of Casio sound backed by thumping beats that drive the crowd to distraction.

If your eardrums haven't burst, then you're onto a good thing with Fuck Buttons, although as one member of the audience comments, you may be best off not telling your mum their name.
