Brigade live at the Astoria

Brigade may be fronted by the brother of Fightstar front man Charlie Simpson, but don’t let this fool you into believing the two bands are anything alike. Each performs and entertains a crowd quite differently.

When supporting Aiden at the Astoria, the bands 30-minute set was a mix of songs including ‘Res Head’, ‘Shortcuts’ and the new single ‘Pilot’, each having a very similar effect on the crowd; MAYHEM. With the very heavy base line, the place was rocking so enthusiastically that I became quite concerned over whether the balcony in with I stood could hold such a hyped up audience; the table in which I sat at was vibrating on its legs and the seat on I was sitting on shock.

As a support act these four lads played it well. They rocked the stage like it was their own and the crowd found this even more entertaining as they were worked up into a frenzy. As a support they didn’t just do as many support bands have done before them and play effortlessly to wind down the time until the main act came on. The guys pulled out all the stops. From the mix of music, their stage presence and the scenery. There was nothing special within the set itself, but the lighting was the main key to their success. The fellas bounced about on the bright stage to flashing purple and blue lights to entice the crowd wanting more. They were pros at what they were doing and no co-ordinated head pops was defiantly a good sign.

Watch out, the Brigade is about.
