Not quite but also
Local band Sennah get upgraded from the Rock Sound Cave to the 2nd stage this year and after impressing us last year it was going to be interesting to see how they tackled the bigger stage.
It’s no surprise really that there is a distinct crowd movement amongst the males of the audience towards the stage when singer Laura comes on sporting another daring outfit, fair play, she looks good in it so why not? The only problem with the outdoor stage is that the wind tends to play havoc with the sound and early on it’s hard to pick out the vocals and the melody. There’s a decent crowd gathered however and the band put on another good performance with some excellent guitar work in particular. They go down well and Laura works the stage expertly, the set seems a little more radio friendly than last year but it still has the hard edged rock/metal feel to it.
The problem with Sennah, which we touched upon last year is that the songs are good but they’re not great, they just don’t have the ‘wow’ factor. I really feel like I should like them a lot more than I do, they have everything in place; great front woman, solid musicians, energy in abundance but just lack that spark to set the whole thing off.
They play a couple of newer songs today including a slower ballad and again it’s decent but there’s nothing particularly exciting about it. If they can find the missing ingredient then they could really take off!
