Proving they're definitely one to watch

Sheffield-based metal quartet The Mirimar Disaster played one of the Rock Sound Cave stand out sets of the weekend on Sunday evening.

The band have Mastodon and 65Daysofstatic on their support tour CV, and their own sound has the full on force to please fans of the former, with some interesting electronica influences reminiscent of the latter, making them stand out from the metal crowd as more than just another rising name with a big reputation.

The crowd number is decent, although Guilfest isn’t Download or Leeds when it comes to tents going absolutely mental for a band, that said the reaction they get is very enthusiastic.

An onslaught of intense screams and growls is unleashed over a wall of noise (the sound in the Rock Sound Cave could have been louder but certainly did them justice), with plenty of impressive riffage going on.

The band have a new mini album set for release on September 1 via Undergroove, titled ‘Volumes’, and on the evidence of this set it’s a real statement of intent to go alongside a 2007 self-titled debut full length album that has received plenty of critical acclaim. With dates in September they’re definitely one worth seeking out.
