4 on the floor

The Loyalties hail from London and feature ex-members of The Yo-Yos, Black Halos and Deadline. They don’t make too good a start as the first band in the Rock Sound Cave on Sunday as they turn up late and subsequently only get to play 4 songs!

When they eventually get going however it’s good stuff, very much in the Wildhearts camp of rock and roll riffs with big sounding guitars and catchy choruses. The songs are pretty simple in structure but they work well and they pack a punch but are not quite as high energy as perhaps they could be. The rain outside probably helps in them getting a good crowd in for a first band of the day and although their time is short they do enough to impress. It’s unfortunate that just as they get into it and start working the stage they have to finish.

With only 4 songs aired it’s enough to get a feel for the kind of band they are but for anyone wanting to hear more they are left to track down their recent album ‘So Much for Soho’. For once this weekend it’s nice to know that the problems aren’t all the making of the sound crew!
