For The Common Wealth in Islington
For the Common Wealth, not another pop punk band, or a band in general actually just one lad, Yusekae Koi (YK) writing amazing songs, singing superbly and with two mates in tow playing some incredible tunes.
I had the privilege to check out this young talented musician when he supported Luke Pickett on tour recently and what better venue than Islington’s Bar Academy. The nerves seemed to settle at first as when you say something like “glad to be here” you generally show some emotion; there was just a blank canvas. Having said that, as soon as the music began to roll and the fans got a taste of what For The Common Wealth had on offer, band and listeners alike loosened up and enjoyed a night of wonderful musical.
For YK to stand on stage alone to sing and play, as he did for a number of slower tunes such as ‘My Favourite Position’, shows what a remarkably confident and artistic young man he is. When accompanied by drums and keys and singing the likes of ‘Say What’, the magical musical melodies he plays enhances his powers towards an impressionable crowd.
This is a lad that is truly in his element on stage, singing and playing to adoring listeners. I may not be clairvoyant, but I see a bright future for this young man.
