Outstanding Indie Pop
Brighton-based duo Blood Red Shoes take to the Main Stage just as the sun begins to set, which benefits their high-energy punky pop perfectly, as pulsing lighting flashes in time with the rough drum beats and gets the crowd moving. They kick off with, 'It's Getting Boring By The Sea' with its relentless vocal calls before moving into, 'This Is Not For You' with its jagged rock tones. The band's frenetic, melodic music is perfect for getting the crowd revved up ahead of other lively acts The Maccabees and headliners Gang Of Four with punchy choruses that get everyone on side. 'Say Something, Say Anything' and, 'I Wish I Was Someone Better' are definite highlights from tonight. Despite being a duo, the band manage to have enough stage presence to keep the crowd interested with Steven chatting away during breaks. Blood Red Shoes' performance is one of the high points of Sunday at Offset, showing that this group are going from strength to strength.
