Futuristic Fun
Future Of The Left pull the biggest crowd so far on the Main Stage at Offset kicking off the set with high-energy numbers like, 'Wrigley Scott' that see them singing about sausages, amongst other irreverent topics. The band's frenetic, screamed rock has clear crowd-pleasing qualities and the audience here lap it up with pleasure. Squealing rock riffs and vocals with a definite theatrical quality enhance the set, especially on tunes like 'Fingers Become Thumbs' where the bassist gets his own groove on adding some impromptu moves as he plays. Singer Andy Falkous abandons his guitar for the keyboard in 'Manchasm', taking the time to joke with the crowd at the front who manage to predict the song; this is notable as many of the other bands at this niche, artistic indie festival have chosen to remain silent and enigmatic. This tune itself gets the crowd moving easily with looming rhythms and kitsch keyboard twists and they carry on rocking through the set.
