Top Indie Pop Fun

Playing an early afternoon slot on the Main Stage at Essex's Offset Festival, Popular Workshop wake the crowd up with their visceral guitar meandering and aggressive rock with feisty, melodic vocals. Singer Gypsy seems to glow with energy as he careers around the stage in a shredded tshirt, giving the band a distinct punk ethic which is reinforced by tunes like, 'Channels' with its jagged rock riffs and DIY enthusiasm. Despite one third of the band being stuck at Hainault Station only minutes before the show, their set is energetic, high-power indie pop at its finest; it's not intellectual, but it's catchy and damn good fun on a lazy Sunday. 'X-Ray Confidential' with its melodic chiming guitars is a highlight, while the real crowd-pleaser is, 'Radical' which closes the set and blows any hangovers from last night clean away. Popular Workshop manage to accrue a good crowd for a fairly early set and even those lounging across near the back of the field seem to appreciate their bright pop vibes.
