Skeletons - Reading Festival

There are times when someone recommends you check a band out that you walk away after the show wondering why you listened to the person you considered a friend. Thankfully, when someone recommended I checked out Skeletons at Reading Festival, this was not one of those occasions. Coming out to a small crowd on the BBC Introducing stage dressed exceedingly smart, well except for the lead singer who dressed in a Mickey Mouse T Shirt and braces.

The five piece from Yorkshire then launched into their short set with full vigour playing a delightful blend of rock infused with blues and an element of theatrical. The crowd, which was growing all the time and would by the end was a good size of passers by who stayed as they were enchanted by the sound.

Starting with Next Year, the six song set was full of enjoyment that left your body wanting to dance, even surrounded by strangers especially during Oh Brother, Oh Sister. It was without doubt a performance worthy of being on a better stage than the BBC Introducing stage and do not be surprised to see them on one of those better stages here in a year or twos time.

Hopefully Skeletons will embark on a UK tour soon as to see them live in a small indoor venue can only be pretty awesome. Sadly only a handful of dates in their native Yorkshire are advertised.
