Slashed Seat Affair give it their all

As Slashed Seat Affair took to the stage at the Cross Kings, little did the crowd know what they had waiting in store.

Individually they are presented as Darren Michael on bass, Rob Meehan on drums, Noël Martin on guitar and vocalist Ellie Mules, presented together they form the very confident, power driven Slashed Seat Affair, a band that push themselves to the brink in their performance. Not only are they amazing writers with Ellie and Darren writing all the bands addictive material and terrific musicians pounding out memorable tunes such as their recent single ‘No More Lies’, but they are magnificent performers, which is what counts when playing live.

The guys took the performance in their stride and seemed incredibly relaxed and energised. In high heels I'm not sure I could have been so steady on my feet as Ellie. This is a woman that knows how to make herself noticed, giving her all in presentation of the songs, moving along to the music as if appearing in a theatrical play, posing and really just enjoying herself as much as she could. Some may have turned up their noses seeing a woman “showing off”, but those that could see the extremely talented musician performing were amazed. At one point she took to the floor, getting in the presence of the crowd, pulling them in closer to the music and getting some people moving along in the process. This not only gave her the opportunity to express herself in a larger space, but also gave the lads on stage the opportunity to run wild and free. With a photographer in tow, the band even got him jiggling along and to show appreciation posed mid song for a photo.

As their set concluded, they went out crashing, even with Ellie losing her voice through the effort she put into her singing. This was a night of dedication, great music and an album to look forward to on May 18th.
