Insert jaw drop here...
Have you ever been so astonished by a band that your bottom lip has literally dropped and left your mouth open wide and your mind in complete astonishment? I had never been left in such a way until I saw this performance by Hollywood Undead when they played the Forum, supporting The Blackout on the last night of their UK tour.
I think that every soul in the building would be in agreement in the fact that this performance went down a storm. From the moment they approached the stage, first the drummer pounding out a beat, the guitar adding a simple riff then KABLOOM seven guys all on stage, full masks in place and the atmosphere in the building exploded. They produced a style of rock that I had never heard before. Rap rock with MC’s on stage rapping with chorus’s that were so addictive Eminem would have been proud to have written the songs himself. The most addictive I found to be ‘Everywhere I Go’ and ‘Never Going Down’; the latter of these tunes was a song you couldn’t keep still to. Actually, the majority of the bands songs had an addictive quality you either loved or hated; I loved it.
These guys are so talented. Not only were they able to remember and keep in time to the songs (with the sort of music they created I can imagine that could be quite difficult), but also some members were able to move back and forth from the front of the stage to grabbing an instrument and driving the crowd with pounding riffs and banging drums.
To first hear this style of music when placed in close quarters with hundreds of others jumping around and screaming can be a little intimidating at first. But after a few songs you are really pulled into the set and cannot help but be hypnotized. Hollywood Undead has a debut album out at the minute and if this performance is anything to go by, it is going to be a hit.
