On Fire!
Logan seem to be picking up the pace as time goes by. Not just content with being the touring stablemate of Alter Bridge, now that the bollox that is Creed has reformed, Logan have had to find solace in the arms of another band. Closer to home this time, Logan have been selected to support the legend that is Thunder, coming to its final resting place and remaining in the hearts of their loyal followers.
Picking Logan for this tour (Along with Airrace and Electric Boys depending on which venue) has been a wise one. Thankfully someone has taken the time to pick a band/s which will complement and enhance the Thunder tour. Logan are a hard working and endearing bunch of blokes as you’re ever likely to meet.
They took to the stage to a half full venue, like all previous viewings, but by mid set the crowd is full and all have been won over. And its all thanks to the newest cd, ‘Cruel Little World’, which is now giving Logan this US/polished transatlantic rock sound. If they were the product of the US they would be huge as their music fits perfectly into the FM/USA friendly market, with songs such as the very powerful Hallowed Ground (a soaring monster of a tune), the melodic sing-a-long ‘Lost and Found’, and the reworked and now mega heavy,‘When I get down’. Singer Kenny Collins commands the stage with a certain cockiness and has great rapport with the audience. His vocal mix of Scott Stapp and Eddie Vedder suits the Logan melodic style perfectly. The twin assault of guitarists Al Reilly and Mick Coll has given them an edge and together with the solid rhythm section of Iain Stratton and Steve Reilly makes the Logan sound as tight as a nut. One song was dedicated to the kind Kerrang! Reviewer who witnessing their Donington appearance, gave Logan a paltry one K.
In a set which lasted about 45 mins, Logan gave their all; blood, sweat and Irn Bru!If they continue to win over fans with every passing gig, surely a step up isn’t too far away. How they have yet to secure a deal with a major label completely baffles me,they certainly have the songs. On the evidence of tonight and recent viewings, the big league isn’t far away
Kerrang! You know Fuck all! And I know a decent band when I see one
