Tight and hooky

The Glasgow four piece have been making quite a name for themselves recently so it’s no surprise that Clwb Ifor Bach is pretty full tonight, mostly with interested audience members, just there to see what all the fuss is about. The band opens with ‘Light Speed’ taken from their recently released debut album and it goes down really well, the band showing that they are not just great on record but are tight and impressive as a live prospect too (as well as being really, really loud).

They play pretty much all of their new album throwing in a few older tracks for their fans and they keep up the energy levels all the way through, vocalist Sam gets a bit tetchy towards the end of the set though because the crowd aren’t rocking out like they should be, but this is always a bit of a problem for a band making their name, especially when they’ve had a lot of music press coverage and people just want to see what they’re all about. His pleas for everyone to stop gawping and rock out actually seem to make an impression though and the last few tracks are met with rapturous applause and a fair amount of dancing which really helps to bring the atmosphere up for the closing moments of their set.

Twin Atlantic are obviously a talented bunch of blokes, turning out some really catchy tunes, that on record are well formed and addictive. Tonight’s performance shows that live they are just as good; playing like they’ve been together forever and really impressing with their ability to put together songs that are heavy, hooky and great to sing along to. They should go far.
