American Steel play the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire

Even though American Steel were formed back in 1995 in Oakland, California this was their first time in the UK and after this performance, American Steel is welcome back to our shores anytime.

For a support act they were able to do their job and warm up the crowd and they gained many followers in the process. Their set was driven by punk rock giving an energetic and very fast moving rhythm and they really got into it, which is always a bonus; bands standing still and singing can be tedious. Even though they were jet lagged they just kept on going giving it all the energy they could sustain.

Vocally this was a very united set. As lead singer Rory Henderson performed, his vocals were very dominant. When accompanied by the vocals of guitarist Ryan Massey, this is when the real magic happened. When the two fellas were singing together and their voices combines, they were incredibly unified with each other with the more easy-going lead vocal alongside the more raised tones. Lyrics were put across with a tough exterior and raised voices without the added shouting effect, which can be a put off. From performances of ‘Dead and Gone’ and the sensational ‘Mean Streak’, these lads were at home in the UK and the fans were appreciating American Steel and really getting into the music.

American Steel is welcomed back to venues all around the UK.
