AFI

A band with over 10 years of live music experience and as many albums under their belt as there are notches on my rather large belt, AFI (A Fire Inside) are headlining the Radio One stage on Saturday evening. The stage has practically emptied compared to the crowd for Hundred Reasons and only about 3,000 people remain to see how much the fire inside AFI is really burning.

They arrive on stage and perform an explosive mix of music running through some of their most popular songs including "The Days of the Phoenix" in their first three songs - leaving mostly material for the more loyal fanbase. It is refreshing to see a band so full of energy and playing music not just from their latest album "Sing the Sorrow" but ranging back to their mid-90s releases.

With all of that said, I do not feel connected to the music and it just seems to be going on around me. There is not a single point during this set where I'm sure that a specific lyric is being directed at me or that I am the most important person here and that the music is solely for me - it just seemed to happen around me which left me feeling less fulfilled than I should have been for such an impressive stage show.
