No ballads please!!

Having reviewed Audrey Horne's self titled album a few months ago, I was not going to miss their gig at Sonisphere. When reviewing their album I reduced their score due to the inclusion of some eighties style rock ballads, and I was hoping and praying they won't do the same live at Sonisphere.

Front man, Toschie, is dressed in a white long-sleeved shirt and trousers with a black tie. With his short hair styled neatly with a side path, you would expect him at a wedding or some formal dance, not on the Jagermeister stage at Knebworth fronting a band who won a Norwegian Grammy Award for Best Metal Act in 2006 with their debut album, "No Hay Banda".

They kick off with their solid riffs and sound so much better live than on the album I reviewed. Audrey Horne sounds a lot like Faith No More meet Tool, but Toschie reminds me of Scott Weiland in his appearance and behaviour on stage, including the use of a megaphone.

Toschie, introduces the bassist, Espen Lien, as "Some say if he caught on fire, he will burn for 1000 years" before he plays the bass intro whilst Toschie jumps in amongst the crowd.

The final song in their set is, like many other songs over the weekend, dedicated to Ronny James Dio.

A truly epic set and I am elated to report, no rock ballads!
