Thin Lizzy Live

I was really looking forward to seeing Thin Lizzy, I've been a fan for a long time. Unfortunately as soon as they hit the stage I am instantly disappointed. They are technically perfect, they play all the classics, including The Boys Are Back In Town, my favourite Whiskey in the Jar, along with Jailbreak, Rosalie and Killer on the Loose to name but a few....and the crowd responds well as bar empties and the dance floor fills.

My problem is that this is not Thin Lizzy. Obviously Phil Lynott is dead and I didn't really know what I was expecting. Half of 'The Lizzy' are dressed like Motely crue and I'm not sure that the image fits the music; it's like watching a tribute band going through the motions. They are tight, they know their stuff but it's lacking heart. The only true original members are Brian Downey on drums and Scott Gorham on guitar. The singer is now Ricky Warwick, you may recognise him from the hard rock/heavy metal band 'The Almighty' from Scotland.

Another issue during the evening, which put a bit of a dampener on things was the treatment of photographers at the event, which was a little odd. Even those with passes came a cropper; it was unnecessary, served no purpose. What a shame.
