Clutch Live
Clutch are the support band for the UK Thin Lizzy tour, and they are a powerhouse to contend with. Their stripped back hard edged blues rock is always a welcoming noise for my ears to behold.

I may be biased, but Clutch have always impressed in the live form. Neil Fallon is the emphatic front man, whose dulcet tones are grasping and low yet as soulful as the breaking of dawn in the swamps of the deep south. They open with their mighty song The Mob Goes Wild from the album Blast Tyrant to get everyone warmed up. They play many classics including Burning Beard and Cypress Grove. Even when Clutch are faced with technical issues on the guitar front, as one of their amps started burning during Burning beard (how appropriate for that song!). They power through and carry momentum through to the last note. They play a new song Newt in the middle of their set, which makes me excited to hear the rest of their new material. Hopefully a new album is on the horizon, following the heavy blues rock elixir of Strange Cousins From The West in 2009.
Neil Fallon grasps his guitar for the final offerings, Electric Worry and Power Player. It's not exactly a sparse crowd but the bar is full and I am disappointed. All these people are missing Clutch, always reliable, always ready for the good times dance, a high mark of what live music should be. Provocative stuff.
