Suckerpunch knock you for six
Nottingham based quartet Suckerpunch may have a local fan base already but are looking to expand their horizons and are reaching out to the rest of the UK. Combining elements of acts such as The Foo Fighters, Blink 182, Sum 41 and Taking Back Sunday, they took on the O2 Academy 2 Islington to deliver an excellent demonstration of some of their pop punk tracks.
The band is comprised of Reece Mee (Guitar/Vocals), Piggy Smith (Guitar/Vocals), Tom Harrop (Bass/Vocals) and Lb Abbott (Drums) and from the offset was able to delve straight in with upbeat, punchy, pop punk that you couldn't shy away from. There was an almost spellbinding nature to the material they were performing. There were so many sing along choruses performed in such a way that it was almost like a chant of words from the band and the crowd replying. Tracks such as Yesterday and the EP title track Sleep With The Light On were incredible and Back To The Place had the crowd yelling the chorus "not getting any younger we're just growing up".
With such youthfulness and energy, Suckerpunch made quite an impact and certainly had a few more individuals wanting to hear more. The bands current EP Sleep With The Light On can be downloaded from BandCamp now.
