Futures finally present their new material

Although poppy rock band Tonight is Goodbye may be no more, several of the lads are still creating music under the name Futures, and stopped off at London's XOYO recently in support of their debut album The Karma Album.

It has taken a long time coming but Futures finally released their album recently, after parting ways with Mercury Records earlier this year. Having created their own Label, Indigo Recordings, they are now in complete control of their futures and by the sounds of the tracks performed in this set, the departure was a decision they are not going to regret.

When the Bucks based band took to the stage to showcase some of their material, the atmosphere was electric and the crowd was getting restless with excitement and anticipation. Although the incessant smoke machine was making it difficult to fully see what was occurring on the stage, what could be made out was a stimulating and a rather robust performance. The band was able to maintain a great stage presence, really getting into their performance of tracks such as Say My Name, Get Out and Sal Paradise. When lead vocalist Ant swapped his guitar for the keys at one point in the set, things really heated up and the fans went wild.

The crowd were eager to get in on the action and could be seen singing along to a few songs, the majority of which were on the bands Holiday EP rather than the album as this was only released weeks prior to the gig. The most memorable performance and the song the crowd received better than any other was the set's concluding track The Boy Who Cried Wolf, the fans were left beaming with joy.

Overall, Futures were able to provide a wonderful showcase to their long anticipated material. Although it is a little surprising they are not yet performing in larger venues, there is no doubt they are working their way up the ladder.
