Pierce The Veil Headline Underworld
Having supported bands such as A Day To Remember and Blessthefall, Pierce The Veil return to the UK for their own headline tour, and being a sold out affair; I knew what atmosphere awaited the highly anticipated show and in such an intimate venue as Underworld, it would be only a matter of minutes before things started getting messy.
The band turned up the intensity of tonight's show instantly, with opener "Hell Above" from their new record "Collide With The Sky" getting the crowd warmed up with a continuous, thunderous drum beat and both guitarists throwing themselves at their strings destructively. Their newer material was relatively softer than the hard rock efforts were used to, but it was their early stuff such as love song Bulletproof Love that had the crowd in a frenzy; the majority being teenage girls. A few other old favourites from their catalogue such as Bestios and The Boy Who Could Fly resurfaced, and saw a couple of fans, who obviously felt need to satisfy their appetite for the band more, stage diving, as bassist Jamie Preciado screamed along; before leaping off himself to join in the sweat ridden crowd. It was clear that the most anticipated track of the evening was King For A Day which saw numerous circle pits form and scatter across the floor, which I was sure would give way if the coordinated jumping continued, seriously, I'm not over exaggerating when I say, everyone went crazy.
Vocalist Vic Fuentes named this show their best ever and I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, there was no encore but with a bucket load of enthusiasm they're well known for and heaps of energy, as proved in tonight's show in the overcrowded sweat box; Pierce The Veil will be well remembered for their live performances in years to come.
