Slash - Apocalyptic Love Tour
Rock icon Slash came to London and played two sold out shows at Brixton Academy as part of his UK tour.
Friday night saw Slash, Myles and The Conspirators opening with Ghost; a real crowd pleaser and my favourite song from Slash's solo work, it was the perfect opening track that got everyone in the room singing along.
Huge crowd pleasers for the night were Anastasia, Night Train and Back From Cali but there was never really a dull moment in their set. The Conspirators are an amazingly talented band, and perform with ease and grace. They're all equally matched with Slash in terms of musical talent; and for what they have in musical talent Myles Kennedy has in vocal talent. It should be mention that Kennedy is also a fantastic guitar player and that fact is often over looked.
A few days before starting this tour Kennedy had been suffering from a throat problem, and despite powering on through these shows you could tell he was struggling slightly which gave bassist Todd Kerns the opportunity to take vocal duties on more tracks. Having seen Slash before I knew that Kerns would sing Doctor Alibi but this show saw him take on at least 30 percent of the vocal duty, which was a real treat and he did an amazing job at performing Welcome To The Jungle.
The boys played a storming two-hour set that whizzed by in what seemed like for two minutes. Slash, Myles, Brent, Todd and Frank are five of the hardest working guys in the industry and are a pleasure to watch time and time again.
