The Dollyrots - One Big Happy Tour
The Dollyrots are back in the UK and once again touring with Texan punk rockers Bowling For Soup.
Last time The Dollyrots were here they were a huge hit with Bowling For Soup's crowd, this time however, they didn't seem to connect and it was awkward and comfortable to watch.
While Patent Pending had lifted spirits in the room sky high, The Dollyrots sent those spirits crashing back down again like a skydiver whose parachute hasn't opened which was sad because some of their songs have huge sing along choruses that have the potential to really get the crowd involved.
Their songs are catchy and sugary sweet but unfortunately the LA based band were unable to engage with the Manchester crowd, and everyone in the room seemed to be shuffling and becoming restless throughout their set.
It's unfortunate the crowd didn't respond to The Dollyrots as when I've heard their recorded material it's full of simple but catchy hooks and edgy vocal stylings. Obviously, that was still present in their music but for some reason the fun factor of their music was not filtering out into the crowd which is a shame for The Dollyrots and everyone in the crowd.
