Buckcherry Winter Tour 2012
On a cold and wet December night swarms of leather jacket and bandana wearing rockers gathered at the Electric Ballroom to see Buckcherry.
By the time Buckcherry swaggered out onto the stage the atmosphere in the room with electric.
For their first song the levels on frontman Josh Todd's mic were wrong, making him sound like he was struggling to hit the high notes and that his voice lacked any power. Thankfully, that problem was soon rectified and he performed the rest of the set pitch-perfectly while dancing around the stage like Iggy Pop's and Myles Kennedy's heavily tattooed crack baby. With Todd being a vivid storyteller with potent delivery skills, he had the crowd eating out the palm of his hand throughout their set, to the point where some of the crowd were mimicking his dance moves seemingly unaware of their actions.
The highlight of the night was when they played their Top Ten Billboard hit Sorry and the ever so popular Crazy Bitch. The crowd went mental to both of these songs; with practically everyone in the room singing along at the top of their voices. Deafening sing alongs also came when All Night Long and Rescue Me were performed.
The band proved themselves to be very tight unit who have a great presence onstage without the need for flashy tricks. A special mention must be given to Xavier Muriel, who is one hell of a drummer and commanded just as much attention on stage as Todd.
It was obvious the crowd were pleased to have Buckcherry back in the UK and in an intimate venue. Throughout their set people were singing and dancing along, clearly having a great time and by the time the night came to an end everyone was beaming.
Thursday's show was more like a party than a gig, Todd had all the women in the room swooning; and a lot of the guys too. Buckcherry get a lot of love on the festival scene, but the show at the Electric Ballroom proved that small venues is where they really come alive.
