Angus Stone - UK Tour 2013

Last time Angus Stone played in London, he was in the very intimate setting of The Lexington, this time around, he'd moved up to the Shepherd's Bush Empire.

After a hugely successful career as part of the brother-sister duo; Angus and Julia Stone, Angus has now carved a path for himself as a successful solo artist who has an army of loyal fans.

Stone was joined on stage by a host of musicians who helped create a full band sound for his music. The band and Stone created some beautiful harmonies and he appeared to have an easy stage presence.

Unfortunately, the volume of the music in The Empire was exceptionally quiet and from where I was watching; at the back of the room, Stone's voice was frequently lost in the noise of people talking.

Stone spent the majority of his set hiding under a hat, which when paired with his beard and the ominous red and blue lighting, meant that the Australian singer-songwriter's face was almost completely masked.

In quieter moments from the crowd during the night, you could perfectly hear how beautiful Stone's voice was as he tenderly sung his mix of folk and blues, and him and the band played some beautiful crescendos.

Stone's performance could not be faulted, it was just a shame that the music was too quiet and the crowd's conversations were too noisy, as it spoilt what would have been a perfect gig.
