Of Monsters And Men UK Tour 2013

Of Monsters And Men are one of the most talked about bands around at the moment, and with three sold-out shows at Shepherds Bush Empire, expectations of the Icelandic six piece were very high.

As they bounded out on stage a selection of quirky outfits were on show and the crowd erupted into deafening screams. The show opened with Dirty Paws which perfectly showed off Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdottir and Ragnar Porhallsson's ability to harmonise with one another. It was the perfect opening track as the audience happily chanted along with the chorus.

Of course, the biggest crowd response happened while the band were playing their extremely radio friendly hit Little Talks. The live version of this song sounds just as good as the recorded version and Of Monsters Of Men were clearly very excited by the crowd's response to the track that has fuelled their rise to global success.

Sadly, it was all a bit of an anticlimax after that song despite them still sounding great the level of enthusiasm in the crowd had notably dropped, and as the final notes of Little Talks rang out people started gathering their belongings and heading out of the venue.

Of Monsters Of Men put on a stellar performance, they were quirky and likable, but a lot of their songs are very similar to one another. However, in terms of a live performance, none of them could be faulted, they are all extremely accomplished musicians and got the crowd involved despite the language barrier.
