Pure Love - Hit The Deck, Bristol

After a long day dashing between venues, it seemed that the people of Bristol were more than happy to settle at Thekla for the rest of the evening to watch an impressive set by Pure Love.

As the band members made their way to the stage, impressive cheers were let out by the crowd, the biggest of which was saved for a plainly dressed Frank Carter.

It seemed that as soon as their set had started guitarist Jim Carroll was crowd-surfing his way across the tiny venue while still playing guitar with precision. Carter quickly followed him, and was soon singing from the centre of the crowd before climbing up onto the upper deck of the venue.

The whole band were grinning from ear to ear throughout their set whether they were crowd surfing, drumming from the middle of a circle pit or playing guitar whilst stood on Thekla's bar; Pure Love certainly made the most of the limited space that was available at the intimate venue.

Having seen Carter several times before with Gallows, one thing is clear, he's a happy man and looks a hell of a lot more content performing with Pure Love than I've seen him before.

Pure Love provided an upbeat and exciting end to a mediocre day; that band alone made the trip from London to Bristol worth it. They are a credit to today's music and are well worth checking out when they're next on these shores.
