A Lot of Promise. A Lot of Attitude.
Queues for the doors at the Highbury Garage this evening were already busy way before opening. One of the main reasons for this is the fact that a good bunch of people wanted to make sure they got in early for the Revoker set, which fulfilled its duty as the opening support slot pretty well. There is so much gear on the tiny stage tonight, it has forced Revoker's drum kit to be pushed right up to the front of the stage, but to be honest it proved interesting viewing seeing all four band members in one line, made them feel like a real powerhouse of a unit. The riffs were heavy, performance energetic, and the front man handled vocals and guitar duty like a young Robb Flynn.
The set was only short, but even then it felt like it dragged at times with some tracks feeling a bit samey. Some of the duelling riffs integrated between both guitars and bass were really impressive though and shows a lot of potential for this band's future. They were really tight live and did well to get the attention of the people still filing in from outside. Revoker have a lot to improve on, but more importantly they have a lot of promise.
